Chairman’s Comments – Dr. Glen Harris

This year is going to be a challenge for sure, but I am an eternal optimist and believe we will all figure out a way to get through it. The mood of growers at cotton and peanut meetings this winter has been surprisingly good. I think they are looking for ways to produce crops economically this year. You have to be an optimist or you would never put a seed in the ground right?

And meanwhile the year will go on…planting, then GPFES Summer Meeting, then before you know it, we will be getting the pickers ready. We will just have to wait to see what Mother Nature has in store for us weather-wise this year (you know I don’t put much stock in long-term weather forecasts). But I’ll look forward to seeing you at a meeting, or a field day or at a board meeting.
