UGA Soil Judging Team 2013

The UGA Soil Judging Team travelled to Tennessee Tech’s Cookville campus to compete in the Southeast Regional contest in October 2013. After three days of practicing on the silty soils of the High Rim and Cumberland Plateau, the contest was held. It included 11 teams from across the Southeast. The UGA top scorer on four pits was Patty Lawson, a junior Water & Soils major, who placed 4th overall out of 70 students competing. The UGA team score was good enough for a 3rd place finish, the highest in the past five years. The team will travel to Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania to compete in the National Collegiate Soils contest in April 2014. Drs. Larry Morris (Warnell School of Forestry) and William Miller are the team coaches.
